Scientific research supports the use of music in early literacy instruction and also provides evidence for the positive impact of music instruction on early literacy skills. Specifically, scientists have found evidence that music can improve phonemic awareness, verbal memory, and vocabulary, leading scientists to conjecture that improvements in brain functioning related to these areas are the source of correlations between music ability and reading comprehension test scores. Evidence supports the use of music and music instruction for all children, and suggests that music may have specific positive impact on children who are English language learners and children with reading and other disabilities. Liberate the artistic and musical potential of every child and you may significantly enhance children's language literacy as well. "The Graham Crackers present a lively child-centered performance utilizing instrumental music and vocals geared for children in grades PK-5. The concert at Riverview School in Wausau was lively and included movement and song. Children responded enthusiastically to the Graham's presentation. Their performance was able to reach all students and the use of props and technology was a real asset to the performance. Our faculty and children "gave high marks" for what they experienced. We highly recommend the Graham Crackers to your school!"

I asked Jonathon and Brenda to perform for a private party for a Make-A-Wish child as we celebrated that her wish was being granted. The Graham Crackers came prepared with an extensive and appropriate song list and adapted perfectly to the situation. They proceeded to give a private concert to our wish child while entertaining a room of 15 children and adults ranging from age 3 to 75, speaking (and singing) both in English and Spanish. Everyone was smiling, singing or shaking an instrument, and I think the family would have loved to have them stay all night. It was a magical experience that I was truly honored to be a part of. The Graham Crackers is a class act.
